This website has been set up initially to provide a location for a document entitled 'Position Statement Concerning Use of Impressionistic Likelihood Terms in Forensic Speaker Comparison Cases'. Over time further information and documents relating to forensic speech science will be added to the site.
Position Statement
The position statement has been written by a group of UK based forensic speech scientists who were concerned about the way that conclusions were being expressed in speaker comparison cases. The document was circulated to all known members of the UK community of forensic speech scientists who were asked to comment on it and invited to become signatories.
The final version of the statement, which represents the overwhelming consensus of UK scientific opinion, is available as an HTML web page and a downloadable PDF document. Use the links below to access the document.
